Overview
In this course, we’ll discuss how to create an effective curriculum to teach quality improvement and patient safety. We’ll provide some examples of organizations that have been successful in this endeavor, along with a planning checklist any institution can use. We’ll also highlight some organizations that are successfully integrating didactic sessions with experiential training — a topic we’ll discuss further in the next course in this series.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Explain what kinds of topics are important to include in a didactic curriculum on quality improvement and patient safety for healthcare workers.
- Give examples of available quality improvement and patient safety training materials, and explain how they could be integrated into a curriculum.
- Describe the characteristics of a successful quality improvement and patient safety curriculum for adult learners.
