Session Agenda
This course includes six 90-minute online sessions led by expert faculty with real-world experience in preventing workplace violence. In addition to large group learning, you will have opportunities to join small group discussions to share insights and connect with peers. Each session comes with a concise one-page resource that includes practical tools, step-by-step guidance on using quality improvement methods to test ideas, and a curated list of references to support your ongoing work.

Continuing Education
In support of improving patient care, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
This program is approved to provide 8.5 credits for physicians, nurses, Certified Professionals in Patient Safety (CPPS) recertification, and Certified Professionals in Human Factors in Health Care (CPHFH) recertification.
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement designates this live activity or enduring activity for a maximum of 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This activity may also be applicable for other professions that accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
As a result of this program, attendees will be able to:
1. Build reliable risk assessment and response systems that reduce incidents of violence and incivility while improving overall workforce safety.
2. Use standardized data and measurement frameworks to track incidents, identify patterns, and evaluate prevention efforts.
3. Create and lead interdisciplinary threat management teams that bring together clinical, security, legal, and organizational perspectives.
4. Navigate legal and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance, reduce liability, and strengthen prevention strategies.
5. Apply validated screening tools and communication methods to identify risks early, escalate concerns appropriately, and prevent violence.
Instructions
To be eligible for a continuing education certificate, attendees must complete the online evaluation within 30 days of the continuing education activity. After this period, you will be unable to receive a certificate.
Continuing education credits will not be awarded for non-educational activities, including (but not limited to) meals, breaks and receptions.
