Lead Change. Drive Results. Develop Your Skills as an Improvement Advisor.

IHI’s renowned Improvement Advisor Professional Development Program is now more accessible than ever, fully virtual and at a reduced cost of $13,500 (savings: $2,900). Gain the advanced skills, proven frameworks, and peer network you need to deliver lasting improvement across your organization.

The Improvement Advisor (IA) plays a vital role in helping organizations identify, plan, and execute improvement projects, deliver successful results, and spread changes across the entire system. Organizations that achieve multiple and sustained improvements almost always have the invaluable leadership of an IA at the helm.

To effectively meet the demands of this role, Improvement Advisors need a solid foundation in the art and science of improvement, advanced knowledge and skills to lead change, and the ability to coach front-line teams in achieving and sustaining results. They must also be able to clearly communicate with senior management, summarize progress, highlight barriers, and secure sponsorship.

Session Agenda

The Improvement Advisor Professional Development Program has been redesigned to maximize flexibility while maintaining the rigor and rich interaction for which it is known.

The program is now organized into three learning units, each lasting 5–6 weeks, with consistent time blocks reserved for live online sessions and interactive activities. Between units, 10-week action periods allow participants to apply concepts directly to their own improvement projects while receiving ongoing faculty support.

This balanced blend of structured live learning, self-paced study, and real-world application ensures participants can engage deeply without extended time away from their organizations.

“The [IA] program has been a genuinely life-changing experience for me... The quality of teaching, range of topics covered, and educational techniques were the best I have encountered in 25 years as a doctor.”
