Todas as atividades terão acompanhamento do corpo docente do Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).

Overview

This program helps quality leaders adopt a framework to guide their work and gives them an opportunity to build peer connections for ongoing growth and development. If you’re ready to be responsible for quality at the highest levels of your US-based organization, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)’s Chief Quality Officer Professional Development Program will help you develop and refine the skills you need. Whether you’re a Chief Quality Officer (CQO) already or in a quality role with aims to advance, this professional development program will enable you to develop the executive leadership skills required to put quality and safety at the top of the priority list for your organization.
Want to learn more? Join our informational call on June 25, 2025, from 11:00 am-12:00 pm ET.

Agenda

This program consists of 11 live online sessions, two in-person sessions, and self-paced activities to be completed outside of the live sessions. Self-paced activities between sessions are required and should take no longer than one hour to complete.

The IHI Chief Quality Officer Professional Development Program aims to demonstrate how to lead quality at a system level. Several elements need to be in place for that to happen.

At a foundational level, we will teach you how to:

  • Develop Infrastructure: To establish the systems and structures to support strategic quality
  • Create a Culture that Enables and Activates People: Create the activities and environment that support people to act

Once those support structures are in place, the emphasis turns to quality management. You’ll learn how to continuously:

  • Plan: Design a comprehensive approach to understanding and meeting customer needs across populations
  • Improve: Charter and execute improvement breakthroughs with measurable results
  • Sustain: Develop management systems to maintain a predictable and reliable process

The Breakthrough Series College is a powerful, hands-on, proven professional development program designed to teach you how to run effective BTS Collaboratives across your organization to improve outcomes for your patients, students, or clients. Challenges abound in healthcare, in education, and in social services – insufficient staffing, burnout, waste, and complex systems with unreliable processes. Fortunately, solutions also abound but they are often not being used reliably enough at the frontlines of patient care, in classrooms, and in our communities.

Scholarship Overviews

The Berwick & Bisognano IHI Scholarship Fund for Emerging Leaders

The IHI Fellowship Program has long sought provocateurs, emerging health care leaders anxious to pursue better health care with a vision, passion, and commitment that is determined and unwavering, those who understand that if you want to change the world, the need is compelling, and the time is now.

To further our resolute commitment to equity and opportunity in health care, IHI has established the Berwick & Bisognano IHI Scholarship Fund for Emerging Leaders.

This scholarship fund is designed to support the mentoring, coaching, and development of health care leaders in quality and safety worldwide, with an intentional and singular focus on providing Fellowship access to leaders of color and those representing populations that have been historically overlooked and undervalued.

Overview

All over the world, health care professionals face the critical challenge of reducing errors and ensuring patient safety. IHI’s Patient Safety Executive Development Program, now in its 21st year, provides the clarity and direction needed to achieve operational excellence and create a 'system of safety.'

The program supports health care career advancement and organizational goals for patient safety leadership. Offering a blend of virtual and in-person sessions, the Patient Safety Executive Program emphasizes peer-to-peer learning and collaboration, allowing participants to develop keen and thorough understanding through expert guidance, while building the strategic, clinical, and operational knowledge necessary to deliver safer, more reliable patient care.

Uniting the expertise of clinicians from around the world with IHI’s renowned faculty and leaders in patient safety, the Patient Safety Executive Program is dynamically structured to provide participants with exceptional value via a curriculum founded on evidence-based instruction and proven, real-world insights.

Upon completion, participants will have the tools, knowledge, and lasting professional connections to drive meaningful, system-wide improvement in patient safety across various health care settings, including acute care, ambulatory care, home care, long-term care, community care, and military settings.

Early Registration is Crucial: To ensure a seamless experience, we strongly encourage participants to confirm their attendance well in advance of the program's start date on September 9. Early registration allows for the development of tailored materials, completion of program preparation activities, and finalizing necessary logistical arrangements to ensure every attendee receives the full benefit of this comprehensive program.

“[This program] helps people understand their full responsibilities as patient safety leaders. Attendees consider it a transformational experience. They bring the inspiration back to the organization and continue to live it.”
