Ensuring Equitable Age-Friendly Care

​​The Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative seeks to provide age-friendly care to all older adults across a system regardless of race, ethnicity, language, sexual orientation, gender identity, or social circumstance. To fully meet this aim, leaders of Age-Friendly Health Systems must seek to understand and address existing inequities in the experience of care for older adults, particularly for populations that have been traditionally marginalized. This article presents six steps to address inequities in the care of older adults, aligned with each step of the journey to becoming an Age-Friendly Health System.
