Guide to the Elimination of Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections

Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC)
Washington, DC, USA

As the leading source of hospital-acquired infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CA-UTIs) dramatically impact the lives of tens of thousands of  patients each year. The effect of CA-UTIs is further compounded as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) no longer reimburses hospitals for costs associated  with this infection when it is not present on admission. This guide is designed specifically to provide the necessary, evidence-based resources for the prevention of CA-UTIs in acute and long-term care settings.
