Mate KS, Ngubane G, Barker PM. A quality improvement model for the rapid scale-up of a program to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission in South Africa. International Journal for Quality in Health Care. 2013 Sept;25(4):373-380.

This article describes how a group of NGOs and government partners jointly developed the "Accelerated Plan" (A-Plan) to successfully improve services at health care facilities in South Africa to prevent mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV. Findings include that a network model for the A-plan could successfully recruit key stakeholders into a strong partnership leading to rapid scale-up of a life-saving public health intervention.
