Duke University's Quality and Innovation Scholars Program (QISP) matches students with physicians and leaders in the Duke Health System to carry out health care improvement projects. So far, the program has reached almost 70 students. On a cold, dreary evening last December, the IHI Open School Chapter at Wright State University held a meeting to talk about the concept of quality improvement (QI) and its growing importance in medical professions. The Chapter Leaders hoped the event would expose students to the ideas of QI and to help them get involved in their own QI projects. Congratulations to the IHI Open School Chapter at Emory University, which offered a remarkably successful training on quality improvement last semester. Ariadne DeSimone, an MD/MPH candidate at Emory, worked with her Chapter to develop the interprofessional training program for Emory students.
