On October 22, about 30 members of our IHI Open School Chapter in South Dakota had the chance to participate in a simulation event we called "Fright Night." Our idea was to bring together students from different fields of health sciences and let them work through scary or worst-case scenarios. This fall, the University of British Columbia (UBC) joined several hundred universities committed to quality improvement in health care by launching the first IHI Open School Chapter in British Columbia. Being a fourth-year medical student at the University of Leeds in the UK due to graduate in 2014, using technology to help supplement my learning is nothing new to me.
