When it comes to hosting any Chapter event, there can be a lot of questions. When and where will you host it? What will the agenda be? Who will facilitate? The bigger the event, the longer the list of items you’ll have to decide.
But don’t let that discourage you from hosting a large-scale event. Large conferences are a great way for IHI Open School Chapters to reach new people and grow their networks. For example, Chapter Leaders recently described their pride in hosting the first regional Chapter conference in Canada.
Instead of being intimidated, learn from other Chapters (maybe even partnering with a few in your area), and go in with a plan. When the Portland State University and Oregon Health & Science University Chapter hosted the West Coast Regional Conference in 2015, they created the IHI Open School Chapter Conference Planning Checklist. They’re only too happy to share it, and the Canadians actually used the same checklist for their event.
Download the checklist, and let us know what you’re planning. Need some funding? Twice annually the Open School welcomes Chapters to apply for sponsorship for events of all sizes.
