MaiKhanda Trust is a Malawian non-governmental and nonprofit organization that works with the Ministry of Health and all partners and stakeholders in Maternal and Neonatal Health service delivery.

C0052_F_017-c.jpgThe primary aim is to work towards the achievement of Malawi’s “Road Map for accelerating the reduction of Maternal and Neonatal Mortality and Morbidity in Malawi.” MaiKhanda currently works in three target districts of Kasungu, Lilongwe, and Salima, and engages partners on the ground to ensure that interventions properly respond to local needs.
MaiKhanda is funded by The Health Foundation, an independent charity working to improve the quality of health care in the UK, and receives technical guidance and program support from the following partners: Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI, USA), Women and Children First (WCF, UK), and Institute of Child Health, University College London (ICH, UK).

Our Work
MaiKhanda is guided by a combined intervention approach at both the community (demand) and health facility (supply) levels to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in Malawi.

Our Vision
Our vision is for all mothers in Malawi to give birth safely, providing their babies with a healthy start to life.

Our Mission
Our mission is to save the lives of mothers and their babies by working with the Ministry of Health and other partners, supporting their efforts to improve health care simultaneously in communities and at health facilities.
