The Berwick & Bisognano IHI Scholarship Fund for Emerging Leaders

Honoring Don Berwick and Maureen Bisognano
A request for funding support

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Fellowship has long sought provocateurs, emerging health care leaders anxious to pursue better health care with a vision, passion, and commitment that is determined and unwavering, those who understand that if you want to change the world, the need is compelling, and the time is now.

To further our resolute commitment to equity and opportunity in health care, IHI has established the Berwick & Bisognano IHI Scholarship Fund for Emerging Leaders.

The Fund is designed to support the mentoring, coaching, and development of health care leaders in quality and safety worldwide, with an intentional and singular focus on providing Fellowship access to leaders of color and those representing populations that have been historically overlooked and undervalued.

The goal

Since launching in November 2021, through the enthuisiastic generosity of organizations and individuals from across health care, we have jumpstarted the fund with $1 million. Our goal is to establish a $3 million fully funded, self-sustaining program by the end of 2022.

All contributions will be matched in full by IHI, increasing the impact all bring to this uniquely meaningful program.

Progress as of January 31, 2022

The time is now

IHI respectfully seeks funding for this newly established scholarship fund, which bears the name of two remarkable health care visionaries who have trailblazed a path for others to follow. Your funding will support leaders of color and those representing populations that have been historically overlooked and undervalued.

We invite corporate sponsors, health systems, hospitals, provider organizations, foundations, philanthropic entities, associations, individuals, and all others to offer financial support for the Berwick & Bisognano IHI Scholarship Fund for Emerging Leaders.

By doing so, you will be enhancing opportunities and reducing access inequities for the new leaders who will shape the future of global health care and themselves become mentors for a subsequent generation of leaders. IHI offers extensive recognition and benefits for those who choose to join us in this essential endeavor. Your support will be matched by IHI.
