Researchers combed information from The Commonwealth Fund's March 2012 Scorecard on Local Health System Performance to highlight wide geographic variations in access to care, including preventive care. They find that communities with better access to care generally also have higher quality care. The authors also note that there is still wide variation in insured individuals' access to primary care in many communities.
