We are currently organizing a RRT at our hospital. What happens when there are simultaneous calls? What do these "dedicated" team members do when there are no calls--what other duties do they perform to fill the rest of their shift? After choosing your core team members, did you have to hire new folks to fill the vacancies? thank you

We are just organizing our team. We will not have dedicated members. This will be set up similar to a code team of experienced staff that will leave their regular duties to respond. Others will step-up to cover the team members duties while they are gone. At present we are looking at critical care charge nurses.

Is this record a permanent part of the chart or is it used solely for performance improvement?
Thanks,
Amy

I have recieved mixed answers from other hospitals that have a RRT. Some do and some don't.

Hi Amy,
Our RRT record is a two part form. We keep one copy on the chart and the other copy is sent to our Quality department for performance improvement. It is listed on the bottom of the two part form where the copies are to go.

We are setting up a Medical Emergency Team. Our plan is to have an ICU nurse and Respiratory Therapist respond. Do any of you have algorithms or standing orders that the nurse and therapist can implement that you would be willing to share?

I would love to see an algorithm for RRT if you have one.
