Patients with diabetes need to control not only blood glucose, but also blood pressure and cholesterol. Perhaps we should make stoplight tools for blood pressure and LDL-cholesterol as well. For BP, green light region is below 130/80 mmHg, yellow region may be 131-140/81-90 mmHg, red region may be over 140/90 mmHg. For LDL-C, green for <100 mg/dl, yellow for 101-130 mg/dl, red for >131 mg/dl.

I really like your idea. Care South Carolina has developed and tested stoplight tools. They have been very successful with these tools when integrated into the patient visit and staff discuss with them what the various levels mean. If you develop tools, would love to hear your experience.
