I have read all the articles in your reference page, and about 15 more besides, yet I cannot find any "hard" evidence of the improvement in patient outcomes. Knaus, 1988, found a decresed mortality rate on one ICU that he studied, as opposed to another, and there have been reports of increased patient satisfaction and RN retention, but where is the data on patient outcomes? Not that I don't, of course, think this is a wonderful project and that we definitely need to work on it, but physicians want hard facts to buy in to this.
