The IHI Triple Aim framework – the simultaneous pursuit of better care for individuals, better health for populations, and lower per capita costs – has become increasingly central to discussions of health care improvement. It is now bedrock for several new national policy initiatives, and has become the organizing principle for a new health care world based on delivering value.
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) originated the Triple Aim framework and has piloted its development with leading systems development with leading systems, clinicians, grass roots organizations, and communities around the world, showing how ambitious organizations can get the results they are seeking in all three dimensions.

In our two-day seminar, IHI Triple Aim: From Real-World Learning to an Achievable Plan, we will point the way forward by showing you how senior health care leaders have already used IHI’s Triple Aim to improve health and lower costs in their communities – and equip you to do the same in yours.
This two-day seminar will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to successfully pursue the Triple Aim in your organization or community.
  • Hear directly from senior leaders and improvement teams who have successfully used IHI’s Triple Aim to improve health and lower costs in their communities and for their organizations.
  • Develop a portfolio of projects tailored to the population you serve.
  • Learn how to apply population-specific change ideas to improve all three dimensions: care, health, and cost.
  • Learn how to activate community partners as full participants and leaders.
This program is ideal for change agents from around the world in health-related organizations who are responsible for developing strategy, delivering front-line care, or crafting policy and supports for a specific population.
The seminar is ideal for individuals working in the following types of organizations:
  • Integrated health delivery systems;
  • Community clinics and safety net systems;
  • Regional health districts or systems;
  • Physician groups;
  • Health plans or plan sponsors such as employers;
  • Regional coalitions, and public health departments;
  • Social service agencies and organizations;
  • Government agencies and state, county, or municipality initiatives; and
  • Any organization working on system transformation efforts such as Patient-Centered Medical Home implementation, community needs assessment and collaboration, or accountable care strategy.
Teams of three to five people, from an organization or region, are encouraged to attend. Individuals are welcome, although experience has shown that Triple Aim implementation is dependent on the collaborative effort of leaders and strong program involvement.
Leave the seminar with a specific, actionable plan to pursue the Triple Aim in your organization or community.
“Sending a team to the IHI Triple Aim seminar… allowed different stakeholders from our region to come together to understand how the Triple Aim framework might guide our work together in the community, explore a portfolio of projects and investments that we can integrate and execute on for Triple Aim results, and a measurement system to help guide our progress. With this common language and a practical plan, we were able to galvanize the work on the ground immediately upon the team returning home.”
