Litvak_E.jpgEugene Litvak, PhD, President and CEO, Institute for Healthcare Optimization, is also an Adjunct Professor in Operations Management in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health, where he teaches the course “Operations Management in Service Delivery Organizations.” He was a co-founder and previously Director of the Program for the Management of Variability in Health Care Delivery at the Boston University Health Policy Institute. Since 1995 he has led the development and practical application of the innovative Variability Methodology (introduced by him and Dr. Michael Long), which has resulted in significant cost reduction and quality improvement in health care delivery systems. Dr. Litvak was a member of the Institute of Medicine Committee “The Future of Emergency Care in the United States Health System.” He is a member of the National Advisory Committee to the American Hospital Association for Improving Quality, Patient Safety and Performance and also editor of the new book, Managing Patient Flow: Strategies and Solutions (second edition). Dr. Litvak frequently presents as an invited lecturer at many national and international meetings.

Sandeep Green Vaswani, MBA, Senior Vice President, Institute for Healthcare Optimization, is responsible for new program development, management of hospital flow improvement initiatives, and oversight of analytics and information technology. He has wide ranging experience in strategy, finance, operations, and data mining for executive decision making. Since 2007 he has worked on various operating room redesign and patient flow initiatives with Dr. Eugene Litvak and others. Previously, he was Director of Analysis and Planning at Brigham and Women's Hospital Center for Clinical Excellence, where he oversaw strategic and business planning, departmental multi-year planning, cost benchmarking, and the development of capacity utilization and projection models. He was also responsible for strategy planning, financial analysis, operational planning, the board approval process, and the architectural design process for the hospital's new cardiovascular center.​
