Where are you in your leadership journey?

Uncertainty about the direction of health policy, and major, ongoing changes in the delivery, demographics, and economics of health care can keep leaders up at night.

But it's what gets senior leaders up in the morning that we'll be discussing at the Fall 2017 IHI Change Conference: Leading at the Edge, taught by IHI's past and current CEOs.

Don Berwick, Maureen Bisognano, and Derek Feeley understand the full scope of the challenges confronting leaders every day. They have all seen and helped bring about inspiring examples of transformational change that prove what can be accomplished with effective and innovative leadership. This two-day conference at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, MA, on October 30–31, 2017, offers you unprecedented access to three of the leading thinkers in health care improvement. And it will equip you with the tools, methods, and examples that can help build will among your staff, generate ideas to test and spread, and speed execution of real and lasting improvements to help improve care in your community.

The conference agenda will offer an extensive look at:

  • The Current Landscape: The political environment, new payment systems, the changing customer, the role of place and understanding communities, and emerging partners and competitors
  • The Future of Health: Health care vs. sick care, coproducing care with the people we serve, building systems for results, increasing health equity, and how to unleash technological innovations
  • Leading at the Edge: Defining your purpose and building will, harnessing organizational systems and analytics, committing to an improvement methodology, developing a learning organization, and strategically executing for results

Don Berwick, MD, will share his unique perspective, as former Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) under President Obama, on the current political environment, and how health reform is creating and can continue to create opportunities for system-wide improvement. Don will also share the lessons he's learned from a career spent pioneering the science of improvement and engaging health leaders around the world.

Maureen Bisognano, as a hospital CEO, an innovator in improvement, and as leader of IHI, has changed the conversation about what it means to improve health and care. It is the patient, Maureen has argued throughout her career, who lies at the center of design and improvement. Bringing patients, their families, and the dedicated health professionals who serve them, together in effective and efficient care teams is, as Maureen has seen and showed again and again, the path to better health, better care, and joy.

And Derek Feeley, as Chief Executive of Scotland's National Health Service, knows what it takes to guide a system responsible for the health and well-being of 5 million people. With a humble understanding that improving health requires all sectors of society, he led Scotland to create broad, audacious aims around the health of its citizens, and especially the healthy development of its children. As IHI's current President and CEO, he is rededicating IHI to patient safety, and leading us to learn more about, and work harder to improve, health equity.

Please join us for this special opportunity to learn directly from IHI's past and present leaders. We expect this event to fill quickly, so recommend you save your spot now.
