Continuing Education

​​​ JointAccreditationLogo.jpg In support of improving patient care, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

As a result of this program, attendees will be able to:

  • Recognize habits that support quality health care and apply the basic principles for improving them
  • Define ways to reduce suffering and improve health
  • Develop an understanding of how to transform an organization
  • Identify elements for creating a culture of change that will lead to continuous improvement

IHI Forum 2021 Approved Credits and Hours

The 2021 Forum carries continuing education credit for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, quality professionals, healthcare executives, and CPPS recertification. Maximum credits available vary by profession. Please note that Scientific Symposium session approval is pending.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement designates this enduring internet activity for a maximum of 89 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses
Nurses can claim a maximum of 38.5 credits. Nurses should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Pharmacists
Pharmacists can claim a maximum of 75.5 credits. Pharmacists should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CPHQ Continuing Education Hours
CPHQ credit approval is pending.

Healthcare Executives
By participating in the IHI Forum 2021, participants may earn up to 118 ACHE Qualified Education Hours toward initial certification or recertification of the Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) designation.

CPPS: Certified Professional in Patient Safety
A total of 116.5 contact hours is available toward the fulfillment of the requirements of CPPS recertification.

How to Claim Credits

To be eligible for a continuing education certificate, attendees must select their sessions in advance and complete the online evaluation(s) by January 10, 2022. After this period you will be unable to receive a certificate.

Instructions for accessing the online evaluations will be available after the IHI Forum 2021.
