Cancellations, Substitutions, and Refunds:
Registrations and cancellations received after November 10, 2017 are not refundable. If you need to cancel after November 10, 2017, please call our Customer Service department at 617-301-4800.  One attendee may be substituted for another at any time by calling 617-301-4800.

Scholarships and special discounts available

IHI is pleased to offer a limited amount of funding for scholarships and special discounts. Please note that scholarships and special discounts are available to assist with program enrollment costs ONLY and are not applicable for travel, food, or accommodation costs associated with attending the program. To apply for scholarships and special discounts, complete the online Scholarship and Special Discount Application. The application deadline for scholarships is November 30, 2016.

Academic Scholarships
For the National Forum, IHI is pleased to offer these scholarships for general conferences fees ONLY. These scholarships are not available for Minicourses, learning labs, or Forum excursions:
  • 75% scholarship for full-time students
  • 50% scholarship for part-time students (2 classes or more)
  • 50% scholarship for residents
  • 50% scholarship for full-time faculty and deans
Need-Based Scholarships
For this program, IHI is pleased to offer a limited amount of scholarship funding to offset the seminar enrollment fees in cases of financial hardship.

The David Calkins Memorial Scholarship

The David Calkins Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to one full-time student who demonstrates a strong interest in health care improvement. The Calkins Scholarship will cover the cost of Forum General Conference fees. In addition, the scholarship will reimburse the winner for up to $1,000 for travel and lodging. Learn more about the essay and application requirements here. The essay, scholarship application, and proof of full-time status are due on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
Jim Conway’s career in health care spans over 50 years, during which time he has been a student, teacher, manager, leader, advocate, administrator, board member, and more. In every role, he has championed the need for patients and family members, as care partners, to have a central part in improving health care. To honor Jim’s years of service, this annual scholarship provides funding for a patient/ family advisor in active partnership with a health care organization to attend the National Forum General Conference. The scholarship application is due by Thursday, September 15, 2016.

The Justin Micalizzi IHI Forum Scholarship

This scholarship is for health caregivers who are committed to pediatric patient safety and providing a safe health care environment for their patients and families. The Micalizzi Scholarship will provide up to four nights complimentary hotel accommodation at one of the National Forum hotels (a $1000 value), reimbursement for travel expenditures up to $500, and waived registration to all four days of the conference (a $2400 value). The scholarship is intended for those serving vulnerable, underprivileged, and underserved pediatric populations. Applications are due Thursday, September 15, 2016.

Patients and Family Members

IHI is proud to include patients and family members as presenters, co-presenters, and attendees at the IHI National Forum. To facilitate patient/family advisor participation, IHI will offer a limited number of scholarships to patient/family advisors who are selected to present at Forum session. The scholarship funding will cover full Forum registration, three nights’ hotel, and a travel stipend of up to $500. Applications are due on September 1, 2016 and notifications about acceptance will be sent by October 1, 2016. The application and instructions are available here.
