Students and Residents

Imagine a place where health professions students, residents, and faculty who are passionate about improving care  come together for the year’s most powerful and energizing event. That place is the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care, from December 6-9, 2015, in Orlando, Florida. The National Forum draws nearly 6,000 health care professionals from around the world to participate in a broad array of learning sessions and networking events.

Each year, the IHI Open School designs unique and tailored programming for its members, and you’re invited to join!

8th Annual IHI Open School Chapter Congress*
Monday, December 7, 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Marriott World Center
IHI Open School Chapter Leaders, members, and Faculty Advisors won’t want to miss the IHI Open School Chapter Congress. This exclusive, free event includes networking with faculty and other students in the IHI Open School network. The Congress is an opportunity to learn best practices from today’s health care leaders and become connected with local and international health improvement efforts.

This year, participants will have an energizing experience as they collaborate to address a simulated quality improvement challenge. In this fun, interactive, quality improvement case study, which we’re calling a “Virtual Practicum,” participants will:
  •  Innovate to create solutions to a real systems problem
  •
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team under the guidance of national leaders in the field
  • Gain exposure to — and experience in — common quality improvement tools and methodologies
  •  Compete for an exciting prize
*Registration is required. Select the “Chapter Congress” option under IHI Open School Student events within your National Forum enrollment.

Prerequisites: Attendees should come prepared with a basic understanding of quality and safety as well as the IHI Open School. To prepare for the Congress, please take a moment to watch the IHI Open School whiteboard videos on the Model for Improvement, PDSA Cycles, and Deming’s System of Profound Knowledge. Chapter Leaders should review the IHI Open School Chapter Leader Toolkit.
