Barriers are always there. Some are just trivial or annoying and are some immense. Not enough resources? Disengaged staff? Fear and timidity? Inadequate information and know-how? No matter their size, they can get more intractable.
The first step to removing the barriers that really hinder progress at your organization is to see them, and not just on the horizon. Understanding obstacles from your own perspective and that of the people facing them day to day is the key to banishing them. Ask yourself these questions:
- What is stopping your people from delivering efficient and patient-centered care?
- What is the biggest impediment to containing costs in your system?
- What can your leadership team do to roll away the barriers in time to keep up with the changing environment?
This spring, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) is convening leaders from health systems, hospitals, health insurance plans, and government agencies to make sure you can answer all of these questions and use new strategies to make progress in your organization.
Join us at the 2017 IHI Change Conference in San Francisco, CA
