Three hospitals decided to focus on the first hour after delivery as a key area to improve care for mothers. By setting their own goals and adapting a simple checklist to their unique settings, staff at the facilities developed tests and slowly scaled checklists that improved monitoring to detect postpartum hemorrhage.
