Segmentation as a strategy in reliability design is producing some promising results for the teams involved in IHI's IMPACT Community on Designing for Reliability in Clinical Processes. Roger Resar, MD, IHI Senior Fellow, gave this presentation in April 2006 to help guide teams through the selection of their next targeted segment of work. He adds an interesting dimension to segmentation thinking by introducing the Clay Christensen Model of advanced theory development.
