Definition
Number of codes on the unit divided by the total number of inpatient days on the unit, multiplied by 1,000.
Goal
The goal is zero codes.
Data Collection Plan
Count every code on the unit. A code is defined as cardiopulmonary resuscitation or intubation. Divide this into the total number of inpatient days on the unit. Collect monthly and include “0” when applicable.
