Leadership Leverage Points Self-Assessment Tool for System-Level Aims

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement has developed a set of important leverage points for leaders who want to achieve dramatic, system-level performance improvement. These leverage points are offered as a theory, rather than a tried-and-true method: If leaders are to bring about system-level performance improvement, they must channel attention to and take action regarding several, if not all, of these leverage points.

This Self-Assessment Tool will help hospital leaders determine to what degree their institutions have implemented specific dimensions of the Seven Leadership Leverage Points to achieve dramatic, system-level performance improvement.  The tool is currently being tested by organizations participating in IHI's IMPACT network and the 100,000 Lives Campaign, among others.

See the IHI Innovation Series white paper, Seven Leadership Leverage Points for Organization-Level Improvement in Health Care, for a more detailed description of the individual leverage points.
