Adherence to HIV treatment is an essential component of HIV care and critical to the success of improving the quality of life and survival of people with HIV/AIDS. This best practices manual identifies practical strategies for maximizing adherence to HIV antiretroviral (ARV) therapy, including identification of adherence barriers, tools for providers and patients, and individual case studies from HIV programs in New York State. Emphasis is placed on finding ways to promote adherence to ARV therapy in treatment adherence programs, HIV primary care and supportive service settings.
