Improve Antiretroviral (ARV) Management for HIV-Infected Patients:
Integrate Patient Reminder and Tracking Systems
Most patients on antiretroviral (ARV) therapy understand the importance of being in treatment and keeping their HIV primary care appointments. Some patients, particularly if they are clinically unstable, have a history of non-adherence, co-morbid mental illness, or active drug and/or alcohol use issues and need to be given special attention and assistance to ensure their attendance at appointments. Integrating patient reminder and tracking strategies into one system makes monitoring patients less time-consuming and more effective, and helps to reduce errors in identifying patients who need careful monitoring and follow-up.
