Organization of Health Care:
Make Sure the Senior Leader Actively Supports the Improvement Effort by Removing Barriers and Providing Necessary Resources
  1. Have the senior leader attend team meetings. If the senior leader cannot attend a team meeting, he or she should call the team after the meeting to ask, "What do I need to do?"
  2. Give the senior leader regular reports and feedback to gain interest.
  3. Involve the senior leader in marketing the asthma effort.
  4. Have the senior leader help identify the most enthusiastic and respected clinician to be on the improvement team and test changes in his/her practice.

Tips
  • Give the senior leader concrete things to do, like visiting the practice site and the asthma team or addressing a public group.
