An overview of the importance of the role of boards in quality and safety as reflected in recent studies and the personal experience of the faculty.
What Do the Best Boards Do, and How Do They Do It?
This session will provide participants with the tools for “board orientation,” focusing specifically on best practices.
Boards, Dashboards, and Data
In this session, faculty will discuss questions boards should ask about quality performance data, and review best practices for use of board quality and safety dashboards. Using their dashboard, participants will be asked to answer questions such as “What are our aims?” and “Are we on track to achieve our aims?” in order to make plans for improvement.
Sentinel Event Meeting
Faculty will guide participants through an interactive session dealing with a quality crisis and the practices, culture, and structures that led to the crisis.
