Sorrel King Founder, Josie King Foundation
In January 2001, Sorrel King's 18-month-old daughter Josie was killed by medical errors at Johns Hopkins Hospital, one of the world's most prominent medical institutions.
King turned her grief into action, launching the Josie King Foundation and working with Johns Hopkins and many other hospitals to improve patient safety.
During this call, King offers tips for students on how to listen to patients more effectively, how to speak up on behalf of patients when you're at the bottom of your organization's hierarchy, how to make patients and families an effective part of the care team, and what you can do to build your skills in patient-centered care.
