  • Get a Certificate of Completion. An IHI certificate will prove to future employers that you’ve got the skills and commitment to improve health care wherever you are.

  • Become a Chapter leader. We’ll give you toolkits, support, and ideas for chapter meetings. You’ll organize students on your campus to stand up for better health care worldwide. Find out how to start a Chapter on your campus.

  • Join a campus Chapter and be part of an active, face-to-face group of local students who care about patient safety and quality improvement. Here’s a list of all our chapters along with the leaders’ contact info.

  • Be a moderator for our On Call monthly teleconference series, which features talks by experts in health care improvement. You’ll facilitate an hour-long call and maybe even share a story of your own with a student audience. Email us.

  • Take a lesson or a course in our Quality Improvement and Patient Safety departments. Each lesson is free and takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete  and you can work on it whenever and wherever you have internet access. Browse our growing catalog.

  • Test our content. Email us with your name, year of graduation and school affiliation, and we’ll add you to the short list of people who see our content first — and tell us how it could be better.

  • Be a blogger on the IHI Open School’s blog. Get your ideas out for other students to see!  If you’ve had a thought-provoking experience touching on quality improvement and patient safety — or if you just want to rant about your day — email us.

  • Participate in a discussion about anything and everything related to health care. Interested in universal health care? Frustrated by your second-year requirements? Go here.

  • Friend us on Facebook and you’ll join an active network of hundreds of people worldwide — mostly students — who share your interest in health care.

  • Register on the IHI Open School website (it takes less than a minute) and we’ll send you notifications about our latest events, contests, and courses. You’ll also have access to great resources including videos, case studies, online courses, discussion groups, and more.

Not affiliated with a school? In addition to registering, email us and we’ll add you to an interest list to keep you posted on IHI Open School activities.
