  Continuing Education

Participants in the 20th Annual National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care satellite broadcast will learn how to:

  • Recognize habits that support good care and apply the basic principles for improving them.
  • Define ways to reduce suffering and improve health.
  • Develop an understanding of how to transform an organization.
  • Identify elements for creating a culture of change that will lead to continuous improvement.

 

In order to be eligible for a continuing education certificate, attendees must complete the online evaluation within 30 days of the continuing education activity. After this period, you will be unable to receive a certificate. For details, please review these instructions for obtaining your continuing education credits. Continuing education credits will not be awarded for non-educational activities, including (but not limited to) meals, breaks and receptions.

 


This Institute for Healthcare Improvement activity carries the following types of continuing education credits:

 Physician Credits
 Nursing Credits

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  The Institute for Healthcare Improvement takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CME activity.



The following sessions offer contact hours for physicians:

 

General Conference: 8 credit hours

 

Each physician should claim only those hours of credit he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

 

The following sessions offer contact hours for nurses:

 

General Conference: 9 credit hours



All RN licensing boards nationwide acknowledge and accept contact hours from accredited providers. The California Board of Registered Nursing recognizes Category 1 Continuing Medical Education credits, and California nurses can use participation at these events, which are approved for CME Category 1 Credits, towards their license renewal, regardless of whether or not they were held on California soil.  In the section where California nurses are asked to provide a BRN number, please indicate that the IHI event attended was approved for Category 1 CME credits.  For further inquires, the California Board of Registered Nursing is in Sacramento, and their number is 916-322-3350.

 Continuing Education for Pharmacists

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
