Alice G. Gosfield, JD, Principal of Alice G Gosfield and Associates PC, is nationally recognized as one of the best health lawyers in America. For more than thirty years, her practice has focused on legal issues related primarily to physicians and their relationships with hospitals, including scores of medical staffs all across the country. Her public policy work has been focused on quality. She has been consulted by the AMA, GAO, AHRQ, AHCPR and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, among others. She was Chairman of the Board of NCQA for five years and served on the Board for 12 years. She was president of the American Health Lawyers Association and is currently Chairman of the Board of PROMETHEUS Payment Inc. She is particularly interested in advising hospitals and physicians on collaborations in common cause for quality.
James Reinertsen, MD, President, The Reinertsen Group, is also Senior Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, directing IHI's Executive Quality Academy, and working with the senior executive teams in Pursuing Perfection, among other projects. The Reinertsen Group is an independent consulting and teaching practice focused on improving the performance of health care leaders. Dr. Reinertsen has had 15 years of experience as a CEO, and 20 years as a practicing physician. His leadership work has focused on quality improvement, leadership development, and innovative market design. Among other roles, he has been CEO of Park Nicollet Health Services, CEO of CareGroup, Chairman of the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement, a subcommittee member of the IOM Committee that produced the To Err Is Human and Crossing the Quality Chasm reports, and a Board member of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
William C. Rupp, MD, is President and CEO of Immanuel St. Joseph's — Mayo Health System in Mankato, Minnesota, and Vice Chair of Mayo Health System. He was formerly the President and CEO of Luther Midelfort — Mayo Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
John Whittington, MD, is Medical Director of Knowledge Management and Patient Safety Officer at OSF Healthcare System. Prior to his current position, he worked for many years as a family physician. He has been involved with patient safety work with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement for several years, where he was a patient safety scholar. Dr. Whittington is presently senior faculty with the IHI involved with safety and hospital mortality reduction. He is also part of the IHI core team that works on innovation.
