Meet the 2008 Program Co-Chairs |

IHI would like to thank the co-chairs for their extraordinary effort and commitment in developing the program for the 9th Annual International Summit on Redesigning the Clinical Office Practice.

Norman Chenven, MD, CEO and Founder, Austin Regional Clinic. He is also President and CEO of Covenant Management Systems, LP. He was appointed to the NCQA/CAPP Advisory Group on Chronic Care Management Processes. Dr. Chenven graduated from the State University of New York, Medical Science Center in Brooklyn, New York with an MD and has been in the profession for 38 years.

Beverley Johnson, President and CEO, Institute for Family-Centered Care, has clinical and administrative experience in an academic medical center. She has served as a hospital trustee and a NACHRI trustee, and has provided technical assistance and consultation to many hospitals, agencies, and community organizations. Co-author of several publications on patient- and family-centered practice, she led the development of AHA’s Patient- and Family-Centered Care Toolkit. Ms. Johnson is a core team member of Quality Allies, an initiative to help providers improve self-management support.

Capt. Charles Q. North, MD, MS, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Indian Health Service (IHS), an agency in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), provides medical advice and guidance to the Office of the Director and staff on American Indian and Alaska Native health care policies and issues. He is the primary liaison and advocate for IHS field clinical programs and community-based health professionals. Dr. North began his career with the IHS in 1977 as a family physician and Director of Community Health Services in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

John Wasson, MD, Director, Center for the Aging, and Research Director, Dartmouth, Northern New England Primary Care (COOP) Research Network. He is also Director of the Center for Aging and Research Director of the Dartmouth–Northern New England Primary Care Research Network (COOP). Dr. Wasson is faculty at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement for Idealized Design of Clinical Office Practices, the IMPACT network, and Planned Care. He is currently faculty co-director of Lumetra DOQIT Program for CMS. |
