More
The National Forum Offers Something For Everyone

  • Office Practices and Outpatient Settings: Ambulatory care is at the heart of true health care transformation. Please see pages 8-9 in the National Forum 2006 brochure for a complete list of office practice-related sessions.

  • 100,000 Lives Campaign Participants and Supporters: At the 2006 National Forum, IHI will unveil the next phase of the 100,000 Lives Campaign, building on the incredible success and achievements of the first phase. There is an infrastructure for change in health care that’s never been seen before, comprising over 3,000 hospitals and an impressive network of Partners and Nodes. This energy and commitment promises to be the engine that will fuel the next wave of activity.

  • Pharmacists: Pharmacists play an essential role in ensuring the quality and safety of care for patients. The National Forum provides a great opportunity for pharmacists to take an active role in learning and sharing the latest in quality improvement and patient safety efforts. Join other health care professionals during four days of informative and interactive sessions. Download recommended sessions for pharmacists.

  • Behavioral Health Care: The National Forum offers specific behavioral health care content and, equally important, the opportunity to learn and adapt learning from other sectors of health care. For more information, please see page 7 in the National Forum 2006 brochure.

  • Employers, Purchasers, Payers: For the first time, the National Forum offers a day-long Minicourse on Monday, December 11, for employers, purchasers, payers, and health care organizations committed to working collaboratively to improve the quality and value of care. A special series of General Conference Workshops will be especially relevant to employers and purchasers of health care services. This is part of IHI's commitment to engage more fully with employers and purchasers. While our efforts to improve health care have often succeeded, barriers remain that can only be resolved by working together with purchaser communities. We detect a new level of willingness among health care organizations to consider radically different models of delivering care, and believe that there has never been a better time to deepen our dialogue.

  • Trustees, Board Members, CEOs: This year's National Forum will have a special focus on leadership and governance issues. Download recommended sessions on leadership and governence and see the agenda for the 9th Annual CEO Summit. For more information about the suggested sessions or the CEO Summit, please email Sara Reardon at sreardon@ihi.org.

  • International Attendees:  Attendees from outside the US are invited to meet with colleagues involved in health care improvements from around the world on Sunday, December 10, from 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM.  Join informal presentations given by international peers on the challenge and activities in health care systems of other countries.  Attendance is free of charge and registration is not required.  (The room for this meeting at the Marriott World Center is to be determined.  Upon arrival at the National Forum, any IHI staff member will be able to direct attendees to this meeting's location.)

  • Students: The National Forum is an excellent place for students — physician, nursing, MHP, and pharmacy — interested in quality improvement. For more information regarding a new Student Symposium at this year's National Forum, please email gbergeson@ihi.org. Thank you to our partner in this effort, The Student Doctor Network. The following Forum enrollment rates are available for full-time students:
    • Learning Lab:  $200
    • Minicourse:  $300
    • General Conference: $595
