Health care organizations across the globe must find ways to reduce operating expenses while improving quality. When faced with the need to reduce costs, many leaders think of only one solution: across-the-board cuts. What these leaders fail to realize is that hidden in their agendas are millions of dollars that can be removed without sacrificing overall quality.
In this new and timely seminar, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) faculty will present novel techniques for identifying and implementing optimal expense reduction opportunities in both clinical practice and operations. Faculty will also share methods to create a management system that captures, enhances, and sustains the financial gains realized from expense reduction processes. Participants will learn about reduction projects that have been implemented successfully at other organizations, including projects on preventing costly medical errors and bottlenecks in patient flow that cause inappropriate use of resources; reducing unneeded supply and staff expenses; and eliminating wasteful processes — all key elements in the push for cost reduction.
This two-day seminar, $10 Million in Savings: Reducing Hospital Operating Expenses While Improving Quality, will take place in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on July 27-28, 2010.
