- Learn the value of flow mapping office processes
- Identify how to measure patient cycle time
- List common forms of waste in ambulatory care practices

Participants will be asked to complete the following:

Develop skill in flow mapping

Measure and use of tools to identify waste (interruption analysis, constraint analysis, measuring cycle time and patient experience of waste)
Session 2: Key Concepts

Identify key characteristics of high-functioning care teams

Identify 3 to 5 changes to test that will decrease patient cycle time in the office practice

Understand the concept of continuous flow
Action Period 2 (March 6 – March 25, 2009)
Participants will be asked to complete the following and report results of tests plus next steps:

Use tools

Map and test ideal flow

Reduce cycle time by eliminating waste

Continue to measure cycle time and patient experience of waste
Session 3: Putting It All Together and Addressing Challenges
